Being away from my family has been one of the toughest periods of my life, and believe me there is some tough competition for the No1 spot….
Our household during “Lockdown” consists of myself, my partner (Brian) and my 9 year old daughter (Olivia), but the rest of my family all live 40 miles away in Wales, their borders are still shut and we’ve haven’t seen them since 15th March, so I decided I send them letters and parcels regularly, to brighten up their day 🥰
I have 4 grandchildren Elliot 6, Ollie 4, George 3 & Lucie 10m
Dragon Eggs
I made these with my 9 year old, Olivia. I found a DIY guide on Pinterest on how to make Air Dry Clay, which is just baking soda, corn flour & water. Scrunched up some tin foil, into an egg shape and literally just covered it with my air dry clay.. Olivia decorated the eggs by pushing our beads into the clay, we left it to dry completely for 24 hours, then painted them with acrylic paint, before finishing them with a layer of varnish 👇👇
Harry Potter Wands
I don’t have any pictures of how I made these. So I’ll try to describe it the best I can.. First of all I realised that as my grandsons are very active and love to play fight, these wands needed to be hard wearing and tough.. So I decided that I would add a layer of Resin to make them tough.

I had 3 garden sticks, which I cut to size and wrapped them in masking tape to hold them together, I then used nail varnish to decorate them. The next step was to wrap string around them, I then did another layer of nail varnish.
Then it was time to get out the glue gun out to make the tops, just build it up slowly, till you get the desired effect, and again, covered them with which ever colour nail varnish to get the desired look.
Then finally!!!! Finish with a layer of resin (I use non toxic, odourless resin) always use with caution and the correct PPE when working with Resin
Butterfly Sun Catcher
Mum asked for a butterfly, stain glass suncatcher, so that’s what she got !!!!!!!
